TANGRAMS are always fun for kids, especially working with them in the traditional way, which is create classic designs such as a cat, a man, a boat, and a square. But you can add a ring of cards inside the Kid Kit of TANGRAMS so students can create different things. Differentiate tasks by writing a student's name on a strip of masking tape and placing it on one of the cards, so each child has their own job. You can also incorporate math skills by placing a value on a color. For example: red = 2 points, blue = 4 points, etc. Students can add (or multiply depending on level). Mental math can be practiced as a students add or subtract more pieces. This can be completed by a small group, partners, or as a center.
